DC Motors

This thesis provides a theoretical study of direct current (DC) motors, which are employed in energy conversion applications. It explores the fundamental operation, structure, and classification of DC motors, including separately excited, shunt, and series motors. Additionally, it discusses the starting and braking processes of DC motors, emphasizing protective measures against damage and overload. Braking is crucial for the safe operation of systems, and different methods such as dynamic and regenerative braking are analyzed. Finally, the work addresses the technical characteristics of DC motors, such as rated power, current, and torque, as well as speed control methods through voltage or excitation current adjustments.
